Progess….

January 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So for the long weekend I pretty much sat in front of the sewing maching and tv for the whold 3 days.

It was great! :D

I did get time off for good behaviour Saturday afternoon to visit my Nanna, Sunday night for birthday dinner with my friend and her bf and then this afternoon an unplanned visit to my Great-Aunt with my Grandma and then dinner after.

What did I accomplish?

I started and finished 7 placemat tops, did quite a few more nine patches and also put quite a few more squares on the big white squares.

My next dilemma is that I really want to get a few of these “kits” that I have finished and done however, I now have about 22 butterfly placemats and 7 rose placemats to do.

I was thinking that when I had finished the nine patches and asian squares I would then concentrate on the placemats however, I can’t stand these placemats and really want them done.

The problem is is that I am really, really, really over placemats and don’t want to see another one. The other problem is that I have 29? placemats to go and each one is going to take at least 2 hours each to finish.

Sigh.

I think I’ll work on the placemats and get them done and bore myself to death.

Sob!

Well, I am still oh so very tired from my holiday and the few weeks proceeding it so have spent most of the night on the couch catching up on my blogs and emails.

I then decided to start doing some sewing. Oh, but what to do? The b@#!y placemats, the nine patch medley, the hearts and the list goes on and on and on.
So, I thought I might do some mindless sewing but…

The tension on my machine is out!!!! Waaaaaaa…

Of course it is, what with being the long weekend here in Adelaide and all.

Here I was thinking I’d do a lot of sewing this weekend but nope, it looks like I’m getting the machine serviced and I’ll be doing a lot of hand stuff instead :’(

*update*

Ok, so I’ve worked out that if I fiddle with the tension that makes it all better! However, in the long run I’m guessing it will still need a service but for the moment and this weekend that is fine!

So I worked on Doreen’s Hearts with the Nine Patch Medley as a leader/ender. I’ll work on doing some placemats tomorrow.

MIA

Well, isn’t that just typical of me?

Write one post and then not post again for days after….

So, what have I been up to?

Well, I’ve been in Port Fairy for the last 4 days enjoying the fresh air, the gorgeous bakery and the slow pace.

Whilst I was there I finished 2 more placemats.

1 more of the butterflies, only 22 more to go.

And the first one of Jan’s placemats, 7 more to go.

So now that I’m back in the swing of things I will work towards finishing more of these placemats off and also finishing some of the quilts that only have a little bit to go on them before they are done.

I Can’t Believe….

January 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I can’t believe I’m going to do this. Just the other day I was feeling very stressed as I have so many projects on the go and I don’t seem to be finishing any!

I’ve been following Bonnie’s “Carolina Crossroad Mystery” since the beginning with no intention whatsoever of even participating… well, perhaps not just yet anyways :P for a number of reasons.

One is that I’m a control freak and want to see how it is going to turn out and two, is that Bonnie has said that it will finish at 80″ square and I personally don’t like them that big as I hate dealing with that much fabric when I put it all together and also it will cost me quite a few $$$ to get it quilted at the end.

However, I’m now seeing how it is coming together and I’ve been following Nancy’s progress and colours and I’m really enjoying them. And it is now that this quilt is calling my name, begging me to make it.

So, with apologies to Nancy for stealing her colour scheme, I went shopping today for similar fabric. I’m only going to make half the blocks and see how I go and what the final quilt looks like in the Mystery before I decide if I will make it into the full size.

The red I got from my favourite quilt shop, Quiltaholics, and cost me about $35. The black and white fabric is from Spotlight, my other favourite and cost me $30. Hopefully I won’t need too much more as I’m really trying hard to not buy any more fabric or start anymore projects!

So, to assuage my guilt over starting yet another quilt I sat down tonight and finished binding the other table runner that I made last week.

I made 2 from the left over half square triangles that came from a scrap quilt that I started late December.

I finished the other one on the 12th Jan and this one tonight.

Tomorrow, I’m going to work on finishing cutting the green 2″ square for my hexagons, cut some fabric for the Mystery quilt and look at getting at least 1 placemat to the point where I can bind it.

The Beginning

January 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Well, here I am. I have a few other blogs where I blog about my life, mainly to do with the day to day stuff and also my weight loss. However, I don’t want to bore everyone with all of that so I have now decided to create a blog purely for my patchwork and crafts.

So this is it! :)

I’ll post here as I finish things, make progress on them or just show you pictures of quilts and cross stitches that I have already finished. I’ll try not to leave it too long between posts.

If you get bored whilst waiting, feel free to browse my photos at flickr. Just click on the link on the side.
